Our Bed and Breakfast De Oude Huize Yard and our fascination with suitcases and anything hollow

Collecting is so much a part of our being.  


Today we would like to share some of it with you.  So anyone that is going on this ride . . .  remember if you need more that one suitcase then you are a tourist and not a traveller.

The binoculars will help to view the Platberg mountain and the birds in the garden

It's great to just disappear grab a suitcase, switch the answering machine on and just go somewhere else. 

What more do you need.  Your gholfing gear and something to go horseriding!

    What a lovely collection you have! I love containers, too. I couldn't help noticing the two figures in one of your photos - are they mannequins? They are beautiful!

      Thanks for your kind comment. The two figures are called Santos Dolls also known as cage dolls. They are normally dressed in costumes. I prefer the cage look. Lots of love.

    Querida Sandra, ¡Que bonito post!. Yo tengo una maleta igual a la de la primera foto, de cuero duro y muy muy usada y con una bonita historia; Cuando ya tenia 10 o 12 años, me enviaron a un internado para estudiar y... me enviaban con esa maleta, yo la odiaba porque era vieja y pasada de moda, me desesperaba y mi madre siempre decia " ya quisieran todas las niñas tener una maleta que ha ido y venido a Argentina", y es que era el equipaje que llevo el bisabuelo cuando se fue a ese pais para hacer fortuna... Ahora duerme en mi cuarto de costura y guarda viejas puntillas. La adoro. Besos desde Madrid. Carmen

      Carmen what a wonderful part of your history is locked in the old suitcase. Wonderful that you still has it with you. This case is so part of you and it is wonderful that you still use "her" to keep your lace in. Lots of love and hugs from South Africa.
