Winter but still Autumn

The begin of Winter falls on 1 June but our country side is still coloured in yellow.

Now Winter is here and this is only the first attack

When there is time

When there is time I like to tell a story and my medium is quilts.   Over the year my stories just grew.  I have posted this original in 2011 but would like to give you a glimpse of what happened in the mean time.
After the passing of our eldest son five years ago I made the first one.  A sort of memory ... or perhaps it started as something to keep my going. Now every one tells a story of our family.  It is a part of us.
Worn jean, red heart made from a little chair that was re-upholstered.
I do not go on any road trip without stopping somewhere to purchase a piece of cloth.

To create one is a "battle" . . . I cut perfect and not so perfect pieces in the 30cm blocks and then when there is 72 blocks the process can begin.
Little keys add a bit of history

Some charm from Graphic Fairy
The kittens was a piece of  cloth used for pillows when the boys were still toddlers.

The story quilts are every where in our home and else where.

Thanks for visiting

Lots of love

Sandstone, Stairs and the Attic

We had to rebuilt the stairs to our Attic Room
The sandstone blocks were so heavy and it took some time to built.
The waiting  . . . .  it was worth it.

Snow . . . snow . . . snow

In our country we are definitively not geared for snow.
We have had power failures for almost three days.
BUT we still loved the snow.

Come, night; come, Romeo; come, thou day in night; For thou wilt lie upon the wings of night Whiter than new snow upon a raven's bac

Before you love, Learn to run through the snow
Leaving no footprint

I love you because no two snowflakes are alike, and it is possible, if you stand tippy-toe, to walk between the raindrops.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather

For the moment, the snow is quite wet and soft.
If it was hard or icy, it would be a perfect downhill for my style, because I could fight even harder.
